How do I get NPCs to reliably equip new armour or equipment?

While I greatly appreciate the AMK team's efforts to allow the player to equip NPCs with new guns or armour, I cannot seem to do it reliably. Let me give a few examples:

 

-If an NPC already using an AKS-74u is sold an AK-74 or AN-94, he won't always switch to either of these new weapons. If he is using an MP5, the only way I can give him a new gun is if I give him a Winchester-1300 in my experience.

-At least one NPC in my experience has not actually equipped a gun (i.e., I sold it to him and it didn't disappear; just stayed in the trade screen) but actually used it in combat.

 

The only NPCs have been able to reliably give guns to are the generic rookie Loners (the NPCs with a Leather Jacket and a PMM as their standard equipment).

 

Giving armour to NPCs seems to be even less reliable. I try throwing suits I no longer need at the NPCs' feet, but they rarely if ever pick it up. Is there a way I can sell my armour to them so they will definitely wear it?

 

Any help would be appreciated.

First of all You should install AI_pack http://www.amk-team.ru/forum/index.php?sho...=475&st=500, then in file gamedata\config\misc\trade_generic.ltx in section [generic_buy] change ; NO TRADE to necessary value e.g. = 0.3, 0.6

Hmm, I never really realized that NPC's only equipted better stuff, but usually I'd only give stuff to Mission-Related NPCs, like at Yantar the scientist guy kept dying on me so I gave him a OC-14 Groza and some AP rounds so he wouldnt stand there with trying to fend of hordes of zombies with just a pistol.

I'm sorry, but I cannot read Cyrillic so I'm at a loss as to which file in the thread you mention I'm supposed to download.

 

The version of the AMK English mod I downloaded already has an xstream.ai file, but is it different from the one you're mentioning? I downloaded the English version from the first post in this thread:
